The Idol of Comfort, and its product of Idleness is Over!

Idleness. That word was mentioned in a group I’m in, and it’s had a hold on me since. It fully encapsulates the period that I’ve been in for the past few months, and until the moment I saw that word, I just summarized it as a lack of discipline. Even with my lack of discipline being a real thing, it doesn’t capture what it has been like the word idleness has. I think that the idleness has many factors that I haven’t fully processed through yet, but I wanted to confront this in how it shows up in one of the biggest areas God has called me to serve in. My writing and God’s vision called Thoughts Of Redemption.

I needed to capture the moment and then continue having my thinking transformed in this season, as my life patterns have illustrated how unproductive things have been for me. No, there’s no condemnation against rest and me struggling to see how creative I’ve been throughout life, but there is a need for a frank account of what I’ve allowed to entertain my time, to the point I’ve been used to it for too long. In a few rare moments throughout this year I’ve attempted to capture audio reflections, and this was a moment that I really felt the need to speak my thoughts out in audio as raw as can be (very slight edits really.)

Idleness, Like Water, Will Cause Us To Settle

The image of water above this may seem like a random image, but is key to what helped personify my experience of idleness that I believe God revealed to me on the evening I recorded this. Take a listen below:

Audio reflection recorded on November 29th,2023

The title of this post is a reflection of what I intend to do, as well as a public appeal of accountability with the platform I’ve been graced to steward in my life. These are the ways that I desire my post to impact me, but I pray for whoever is reading this and it strikes a chord with you, may this impact you in the way that it is designed to do so. Lord willing there is more to come 🙏🏾.
